INFORMATION FOR VISA HOLDERS
In case you are granted a Schengen visa, as soon as collect your passport, ensure that all the
information it contains is correct.
Please check the following:
You may check the latter by yourself to avoid any issues or additional costs that may arise when using your visa. If you believe that any information on the visa is incorrect, immediately inform the Embassy of Spain in Abu Dhabi (emb.abudhabi.vis@maec.es) so that possible errors may be corrected.
How to read the visa sticker
DURATION OF STAY………DAYS indicates the number of days you are allowed to stay in the Schengen area. The days should be counted from the date you enter the Schengen area (entry stamp) to the date you leave it (exit stamp), both days included.
The period "FROM... UNTIL" is usually longer than the number of days shown in the "DURATION OF STAY" field. This difference in days is intended to give you some flexibility in planning your entry and exit from the Schengen area, but your stay must not exceed the exact number of days indicated in the "DURATION OF STAY... DAYS" field. The number of days you indeed remain in the Schengen area is irrelevant; what is important is that you must leave no later than the date shown in the "UNTIL" field.
Border Controls
Your short-stay visa authorizes you to travel to Spain and, generally, to other Schengen States as well. However, it does not automatically entitle you to enter the Schengen area. You may be required to provide certain information at border controls or other checkpoints. For example, you may need to explain your means of subsistence, how long you plan to stay in the Schengen area, or the reasons for your visit.
In some cases, these checks may result in the visa holder being denied entry to Spain or to the Schengen area.
Therefore, we recommend you to carry with you copies of the documents you submitted when applying for the visa (such as invitation letters, travel confirmations, and other documents stating the purpose of your stay). This may facilitate the border control process and avoid delays at the border.
NOTE: You must respect the period of stay authorized on your visa. Any misuse of the visa or overstaying may result in expulsion and a ban on obtaining a new visa for a certain period of time.
