OverviewA) The spouse of a Spanish citizen whose marriage is registered in the Spanish Civil Registry: When the visa is requested by the spouse of a Spanish national, and their marriage marriage is registered in the Spanish Civil Registry, an updated marriage certificate issued within the last six months is required. Only if the marriage is registered at The Embassy of Spain in Abu Dhabi, a copy of the family book or an old marriage certificate will be accepted. Beneficiaries of the family members of Union citizens regime, must also prove that they are traveling with their EU family member or are visiting them (for example: by means of a joint plane ticket, registration certificate, etc.). B) The spouse of a Spanish citizen whose marriage is not registered in the Spanish Civil Registry: You must proceed to register your marriage in the Spanish Civil Registry through the Spanish Embassy in Abu Dhabi in the event that either of the two spouses, regardless of their nationality, is a resident in the United Arab Emirates. It consists of a step prior to applying for a visa under the community regime. To obtain information in this regard, you must send an email to the following address: emb.abudhabi.nac@maec.es If registration is not possible, the application for a EU spouse visa will be assessed on the basis of the foreign marriage certificate and either an interview or other tests considered necessary will be required. In any case, the foreign marriage certificate must be recent (issued within the last six months), legalized or apostilled, officially translated into Spanish. Beneficiaries of the family members of Union citizens regime, must also prove that they are traveling with their community family member or are visitingh them (for example: by means of a joint plane ticket, registration certificate, etc.). C) Other cases in which the community regime could be applicable: Contact the visa section of the Spanish Embassy in Abu Dhabi – emb.abudhabi.vis@maec.es Important notice: in any of the modalities of the community regime, it would always be a free and preferential visa, type C, ESC code, whose validity is limited to a maximum of two years. * Alternatively, applicants who do not meet the requirements to be included in the categories mentioned above could always apply for a visa under the general regime, in which case their application will niether be preferential nor free. In these cases, the validity period of the visa can range from a few days to a maximum of five years. Note: Exemption of Visa Fee for a child is applicable only in the case of Short Term category, if the child's age is less than 6 years at the date of submission. Note: Please follow these instructions carefully. If photographs presented do not meet these requirements your application will be considered incomplete. A photo booth meeting these requirements is available at the centre.. Applications accepted at the Spain Visa Application Centre will be submitted on the next working day at the Embassy of Spain/Consulate General of Spain. Once the application has been submitted, the applicant can be further requested additional documentation in support of the same. Please note as per the instructions received from Embassy of Spain minimum processing time is 3 week (It may delay depending on case to case). All applications must be submitted at least 3 week prior to the proposed date of travel to accommodate any unforeseen processing delays. Kindly note that application submitted in Dubai & Abu Dhabi centers will be sent to Embassy of Spain in Abu Dhabi next working day. Processing time will start excluding the date of submission of application at BLS International Services. Applicants submitting the applications towards the Embassy of Spain, Abu Dhabi with short processing time will be required to fill up the Declaration form. |
